About this course
The course develops drawing from direct observation and photographs, with subjects including landscapes, portraits, objects and photographic images. Participants work on proportion, perspective, line and tonal range while considering examples of historical and contemporary drawing. Most class time is devoted to drawing. Weekly lesson plans, tasks and hand-outs structure the sessions, which combine group tuition, individual tutorials, discussion and tutor feedback. The course also encourages learners to form personal responses to the subjects they study and to maintain a sketchbook.
