About this course
This introductory course examines how politics operates across the UK. It covers the roles and powers of the two Houses of Parliament, the Prime Minister and government, alongside devolution and the strengths and drawbacks of the voting system. Sessions also consider the development, functions and policies of the main political parties, as well as political figures who have influenced UK politics. Teaching combines lectures with discussion of current political issues, with opportunities for learners to contribute. Optional tasks may be set to extend learning beyond the class.
