About this course

The course focuses on using colour to construct drawn environments. Participants take visual inspiration from artists’ studios, paintings, stage designs and interiors, then develop different settings through drawing. The subject matter provides a framework for exploring how colour and interior space can suggest distinct environments and invite imaginative interpretation.

Before you go

  • Easels, drawing boards, charcoal, newsprint and masking tape are provided in the studio.
  • Cartridge paper and watercolour paper are provided.
  • Participants may bring additional personal materials, such as drawing pencils, Conté crayons, pastels, ink pens, coloured pencils, erasers, a pencil sharpener or a sketchbook.
  • A full suggested materials list is sent before the course begins.
