About this course
The course combines lectures, practical exercises and group discussion to examine stitching as both a making technique and a reflective process. Participants learn basic stitching and the traditional technique of kantha stitching, applying it to a personalised silk scarf. Discussion considers ideas such as tension, pattern, repair and repetition in relation to individual creative projects. A communal stitching circle provides a setting for dialogue and collaboration, while the course also introduces reflective approaches that can be applied to future artistic or academic work.
