Throwing, Hand-building and Decorating Ceramics – Advanced

About this course

Participants develop their own ceramic work through independent studio practice, with tutor guidance, technical support and ongoing verbal feedback. The course covers coiling, slab building, sculpting, modelling clay, throwing on the pottery wheel and combining forming methods. Work also includes slip decoration, underglaze stains, oxides and glaze application, with scope to develop glaze combinations and finish pieces to an individual design. Group questions and one-to-one guidance form part of the workshop format.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for learners with substantial pottery experience who are working beyond a standard class level. Participants develop work independently in a studio environment, with group questions, observation and individual guidance available. Learners must be aged 19 or over at the course start.
