About this course

The course introduces a range of printmaking processes through practical work in an intaglio print room. Participants explore etching, aquatint, drypoint, sugar lift and monotype, alongside collograph and monoprint. The course is framed as an extension of drawing practice, using ideas and source material as starting points for developing prints. It is suitable for those beginning to work with these techniques and does not require previous drawing experience.

Before you go

• An equipped intaglio print room is provided.
• Wear an apron or old clothes.
• Bring basic drawing materials, an eraser and a nylon sable-type brush in sizes 2 to 6.
• Optional equipment includes a drypoint or etching needle, burnisher, magnifying glass and scraper.
• Plates and paper are available to buy in the print room.
