About this course

The course introduces and develops intaglio printmaking, with etching as its central focus. Participants work with hard ground, soft ground, aquatint, sugar lift and white ground techniques, using the provided intaglio print room. Teaching centres on developing etching processes through studio work, with access to related printmaking methods including collograph and monoprint.

Before you go

• A fully equipped intaglio print room is provided.
• Wear an apron or old clothes.
• Bring ideas and source material, basic drawing materials, an eraser and a nylon sable-type brush in sizes 2 to 6.
• Dry point or etching needles, a burnisher, magnifying glass and scraper are optional.
• Plates and paper can be bought in the print room.
• A further materials list is provided a week before the course begins.
