About this course

The course examines how TikTok differs from other social platforms, including the For You and Following pages, account settings and built-in analytics. Participants explore trends, hashtags, sounds, engagement and ways to select content relevant to a business audience. Teaching combines slides, live video and screenshots with guided use of the app. Participants practise filters, effects and stickers, develop business-focused content and post one video during the class. Google Classroom materials, short videos and articles provide additional information.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for business owners who want to use TikTok to reach a new audience. It is taught at beginner level but assumes basic social media experience, familiarity with using a smartphone and an existing TikTok account. Learners who are entirely new to TikTok may prefer an introductory course first.

• Basic social media experience is necessary.
• Learners should already have a TikTok account.

Before you go

• Bring or access a smartphone, mobile device or tablet with the TikTok app downloaded.
• A laptop or computer is needed to access the classroom video link, alongside the mobile device used for TikTok activities.
• Participants must be able to operate their device and log into their accounts independently; IT assistance is not available.
• Have account passwords and other login details available before the course.
• Google Classroom handouts, short videos and articles are provided.
