About this course
The course introduces two calligraphy pen types and the scripts associated with them, including gothic, italic, modern calligraphy and Copperplate. Learners begin with mark-making exercises before working on related letterforms, alphabets and spacing between letters and words. Teaching combines group and individual demonstrations with one-to-one support. The course also covers holding a broad-edged pen at a specific angle and producing contrasting thick and thin strokes with a flexible nib.
