Try it out calligraphy: formal and modern

About this course

The workshop introduces two calligraphy pen types and the marks they produce. Learners explore broad-edge nib techniques used for scripts including gothic and italic, then practise thick and thin strokes with a flexible pointed nib for modern calligraphy and Copperplate. Teaching combines group demonstrations with one-to-one support. The session also covers the basic tools and materials associated with these approaches, with demonstrations supported by hand-outs.

The course is intended for complete beginners as well as learners returning to calligraphy to refresh their skills.
