About this course

Participants make a pendant and a textured silver ring band while learning core jewellery-making processes. Demonstrations are given to the whole group and to individuals, with discussion and feedback included. The course introduces measuring, cutting and annealing metal, texturing with hammers and punches, heating, soldering, forming, filing, sanding and polishing, alongside safe working practices. The projects provide a structured way to apply these techniques to simple jewellery forms.

  • General jewellery-making tools and equipment are provided.
  • Copper and brass sheet and wire are available for use.
  • Silver sufficient to make one ring is included.
  • Participants need to bring a sketchbook or notebook.
  • Sensible footwear must be worn; sandals, open shoes and small pumps are not permitted.
