About this course
Participants learn and perform a varied repertoire of songs and instrumentals in an ensemble, combining singing with ukulele playing and alternating melody and accompaniment parts. The group also works on arranged pieces and different strumming approaches, with some choice over the level of challenge.

Is this course right for you?
The course is labelled Improver and requires learners to be able to play six to eight chords and understand basic chord diagrams. It involves regular group playing, singing, listening to demonstrations and responding to material that may be unfamiliar. Complete beginners are advised to take a short preparatory class first.
- Requires basic chord knowledge and the ability to play six to eight chords
- Includes ensemble playing alongside other ukulele players
- Some sessions may introduce music that learners have not previously practised
- More advanced players may explore improvisation and solo ukulele pieces
Before you go
- Bring a ukulele. Soprano, concert, tenor and baritone ukuleles are suitable, and ukulele banjos are also accepted.
- Bring a tuner, pen or pencil, and notebook.
- The tutor supplies other course materials.
- The ukulele may be played sitting or standing. Learners need to read song sheets and TAB on a music stand.
- Learners who require additional support with their learning needs should inform the provider at the outset.
