Upholstery - Level 2 Award in Creative Craft

An improver-level upholstery course covering intermediate techniques, project planning and assessment through demonstrations, studio practice, tutorials and critiques.
About this course
The course develops intermediate upholstery practice through furniture stripping and preparation, webbing, padding, shaping, covering methods and decorative finishing. Learners work with traditional and modern materials while considering design principles, fabric selection and the development of creative solutions. Teaching combines demonstrations, practical studio sessions, presentations, guided research, structured tutorials, idea-development exercises, group critiques and formal feedback. Guided and independent projects are planned, documented and evaluated from initial concept to completed piece, with progress assessed through practical work, written reflection, sketchbooks and portfolio evidence rather than formal exams.
