About this course

Participants photograph London's green spaces and plants while exploring ways to make stronger landscape and environmental images. The course covers composition, camera settings, natural light and weather, alongside conceptual approaches to developing a single image or wider project with a sense of narrative. Teaching takes place outdoors through guided photography, group discussion, individual guidance and regular feedback. The session includes stops along the route for reviewing ideas and considering what makes an effective photograph.

Is this course right for you?

The course is open to all levels, but participants should already be comfortable using their camera. It involves outdoor photography, group discussion and walking between locations, with rest stops and wheelchair-friendly routes for those unable to stand or walk for long periods.

Before you go

• Bring a camera with a fully charged battery and plenty of space on the memory card; a spare battery is recommended.
• Check the weather forecast and dress appropriately. Waterproof clothing and a plastic bag to protect the camera may be useful.
• A tripod is useful but not essential.
• A foldaway stool may be brought, and participants may wish to bring a drink and snack.
• Bring an Oyster card or contactless payment method in case bus travel is needed.
