Urban nature and landscape photography: the hidden delights of Regent's Canal

About this course

Participants will photograph the canal’s plants, landscapes and natural details while exploring how composition, camera settings, natural light and weather affect an image. The course also considers conceptual approaches to landscape and environmental photography, including how a single image or wider project can communicate a story. Teaching takes place outdoors, with guidance on camera settings, group discussions, individual feedback and one-to-one support during the session.

Is this course right for you?

The course welcomes photographers at all levels, although participants should already be comfortable using their camera. It is a field-based session involving some distance on foot, with regular stops and wheelchair-friendly routes for those who need to limit standing or walking.

Before you go

• Bring a camera with fully charged batteries, ideally with a spare set, and plenty of memory-card space.
• A tripod may be useful but is not essential.
• Check the weather forecast and dress appropriately. Waterproof clothing and a plastic bag to protect the camera may be needed.
• Bring an Oyster card or contactless payment method, as bus travel may be used.
• A drink and snack may be useful.
• A foldaway stool is welcome for those who may need to sit during the walk.
