Using Apple Mac OS: short introduction

About this course

The course introduces the main components of a Mac, including the desktop, operating system, Dock and System Preferences. Participants practise logging in and out, opening applications, navigating the system, and creating, saving and locating files. Teaching combines demonstrations, computer-based presentations, an interactive whiteboard, an overhead screen and printed notes. Step-by-step instruction is used throughout, with each learner working at an individual computer.

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for people new to Apple Mac computers rather than people new to computers generally. Learners should already be able to use a PC and follow spoken instructions and written information. Teaching is delivered through demonstrations and guided individual computer work.

Before you go

• Apple computers are provided for use during the course.
• Learners should bring a pen and paper for taking notes.
• A personal account may be required, or learners may need to create one, depending on the software used.
