About this course
The course introduces Vectorworks for digital 2D and 3D design work. Participants learn to set up drawings, create scaled plans and elevations, use the built-in symbol library, and develop a 2D plan into a 3D perspective with camera angles, textures, finishes and lighting. They also prepare images for a final presentation print. Teaching combines software demonstrations, practical exercises, handouts, and group and individual assistance. Forum sessions provide opportunities to discuss participants’ work and different aspects of the programme. The beginner course does not cover complex curved shapes.

Is this course right for you?
This course is intended for beginners who want an introduction to Vectorworks. Learners should already have basic computer-use skills, including navigating files and using a mouse, and should be able to follow written and verbal instructions, work with simple measurements and calculations, and take part in group discussion.
- Some basic computer knowledge is expected before starting.
- Learners are asked to follow demonstrations, handouts and health and safety information.
- The course includes group discussion alongside individual assistance.
Before you go
- A USB memory stick of at least 2GB is required for backing up and storing data.
- Other basic materials are provided.
- A free educational Vectorworks licence can be requested for use during the course and academic year; it is not intended for business or unrelated personal use.
- Course tasks, notes and resources are stored on Google Classroom, which learners need to access before sessions.
