Violin and Viola 1B

About this course

The course develops violin and viola technique alongside general musicianship through online group tuition. Sessions combine whole-class teaching with individual and small-group practice, allowing learners to work on repertoire and playing skills in both solo and ensemble contexts. Content includes repertoire from ABRSM, Trinity and LCM syllabuses, sight reading and playing in first position. Learners are expected to practise regularly between lessons so that the class can progress together.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for players who have completed around one term of violin or viola study, or equivalent. It involves online group tuition alongside individual and small-group practice, with regular practice between lessons expected as the class progresses collectively.

• Previous knowledge of reading and playing music in first position is required
• Learners should be familiar with semibreves, minims, crotchets and quavers
• The class is structured for learners progressing together as a group
