About this course
The course develops playing and reading in 3rd position through repertoire, scales and technical exercises. Participants work on shifting between 1st and 3rd positions, bow control, vibrato, major and minor scale patterns, and selected arpeggios. The tutor leads whole-class playing, accompanies or supports the students’ lines, and listens to individuals. Teaching includes demonstrations, printed music, some playing by ear and occasional recordings. There is also scope to address individual playing problems and to explore physical coordination while playing.
