About this course

The course introduces drawing and painting approaches using watercolour, acrylic and ink, with exercises exploring how each medium can be used. Learners examine relevant artists and styles, discuss their work and apply ideas to their own practice. Teaching combines guided exploration, tutor demonstrations or advice, individual verbal feedback and informal group critiques. Each participant works with the tutor to create a Personal Learning Plan, then develops a personal project using water-based media.

What you'll learn

  • Apply a range of drawing and painting techniques using watercolour, acrylic and ink
  • Investigate the visual possibilities of different water-based media
  • Relate selected artists and styles to practical exercises and projects
  • Develop a personal project using one or more water-based mediums
  • Set and review individual learning goals through a Personal Learning Plan
