Watercolour Inspired by Chinese Brush Painting

About this course

Participants paint a range of flowers, including roses, apple blossom, tulips, dahlias and lotus, while exploring both soft petal forms and gestural brush marks. The course introduces ideas from Chinese painting, including purposeful brushwork and the relationship between painted and unpainted space in Daoist thought. Composition is developed through studying the work of watercolour masters. Teaching combines demonstrations, guided practice and independent painting time, with individual attention provided during the sessions.
