About this course

The course develops watercolour practice through exercises in composition, tonality, proportion, line, shape and the relationship between objects and their surroundings. Participants work from objects and photographs while exploring colour mixing, hue, value and saturation. Teaching covers wet-in-wet and wet-on-dry methods, washes, glazing, brush mark-making, resist techniques, paint lifting and corrections. Tutor feedback, discussions and a Personal Learning Plan help shape individual study, while each session includes an informal group critique of learners’ work.
