About this course
This course introduces art history as an academic discipline through examples of two- and three-dimensional artworks from the Renaissance to the modern period. It considers how style, subject matter and materials can be analysed, alongside the social, political, cultural and artistic contexts in which works were produced. Teaching combines lectures, slide presentations, activities and group discussions. Participants are introduced to basic art history methodology and use these approaches to examine and discuss a range of artworks.
