Ways into creative writing: a gentle pace

About this course

Participants explore poetry, fiction and creative non-fiction through writing prompts, exercises and games. The course introduces figurative language, sensory imagery and craft elements such as point of view, dialogue, imagery and character. Teaching combines interactive tutor presentations with discussion and analysis of published writing. Learners are invited to share ideas and their own work in a workshop setting, where feedback is discussed constructively with the tutor and group.

The course is designed for absolute beginners, including people trying creative writing for the first time or sharing work with a group for the first time. It involves discussing published writing and sharing ideas or writing in a constructive workshop environment. A good grasp of written and spoken English is required.
