About this course

The course examines the movements, ideas and cultural changes that shaped modern and contemporary art, including the development of abstraction, experimentation and conceptual art. Participants explore how these approaches differ from earlier representational traditions. Learning combines tutor-led presentations, group discussion and close analysis of artworks in galleries, museums, auction houses and exhibition spaces. Informal assessment includes participation in discussions, engagement with visits and short reflective responses, with ongoing feedback.
