About this course
Learners develop more accurate woodworking methods by practising workshop safety, measuring and marking timber, cutting components and using hand tools such as saws, chisels, planes and clamps. The course covers at least three wood joints, including stronger options for household furniture, and follows a step-by-step process to plan and build one or two functional projects. Sessions also address basic finishing with sanding, oiling, staining or painting, alongside problem-solving when designs or materials need adjustment. Example projects include a wall-mounted shelf, storage box, bench, shoe rack, plant stand or side table.
