About this course
The course uses comparative tasting to examine Bordeaux reds alongside wines from the Rhône Valley and southern France. Participants explore how grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Grenache influence style, and consider the characteristics associated with wines from areas including Margaux, Pauillac, St Emilion, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Vacqueyras and Hermitage. The tasting also considers why some Bordeaux wines are complex and capable of developing over time, while comparing established Rhône and southern French examples with less expensive regional counterparts.
