About this course

Participants work through the stages of short-story writing, from opening ideas and character development to plot, structure and a suitable ending. Exercises also explore mood, themes, subtext and imaginative use of language. Teaching combines tutor presentations with discussion and analysis of published short fiction. Learners write during the course and may share their work for constructive feedback from the tutor and other participants, completing a first draft by the end.
