About this course

The course introduces the main factors that shape wine styles and flavours, including key grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir. Participants use the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting to describe wines, compare styles and identify common faults. Teaching also covers basic food and wine matching, along with appropriate storage and service. The course includes tastings of nine wines and a practical pairing exercise. Assessment is through a 30-question multiple-choice examination, with a pass mark of 70%.
