About this course

The course examines how vineyard conditions and winemaking choices affect wine style and quality. Participants study key international grape varieties, regionally significant varieties, sparkling and fortified wines, labelling, storage, service and common faults. Teaching combines classroom explanation with tutored tastings of 40 wines. Participants learn to assess and describe wine using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting, consider food and wine pairings, and evaluate wine quality.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for learners developing beyond an introductory overview of wine, although no prior wine knowledge is required. It involves classroom participation, guided tasting and additional independent study. The provider notes that Level 1 may be more suitable for those who are completely new to wine.
