About this course

The course examines how vineyard conditions and winemaking choices affect wine style and quality, with coverage of key international grape varieties, regional varieties, sparkling and fortified wines. Participants taste a range of wines and use the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting to describe them. Teaching also covers food and wine matching, wine storage and service, common faults, and interpreting labels. The course concludes with assessment for the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for improver-level learners and does not require prior wine knowledge. However, the provider indicates that WSET Level 1 may be more suitable for people completely new to wine. Participation combines classroom teaching, tutored tastings and independent study.

• Learners are advised to allow at least 12 hours for independent study
• Those completely new to wine may prefer the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines

• A WSET Level 2 study pack is supplied in advance, including the course book, study guide and WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting card.
• The course includes tutored tastings of 40 wines.
• Access to a structured Wine With Jimmy online learning package is included.
• Lunch is not provided.
• Learners with a condition that may qualify them for additional help during the exam should notify the provider.
