About this course
The course examines how vineyard conditions and winemaking choices affect wine style and quality, using key international grape varieties alongside regionally important varieties. It also covers sparkling and fortified wine production, wine labelling, storage, service and common faults. Teaching combines classroom study with tutored tastings of 40 wines. Participants learn to assess and describe wine using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting, explore food and wine matching, and complete a multiple-choice examination.

The course is intended for improver-level learners and does not require prior wine knowledge. However, the provider notes that its content builds on WSET Level 1, which may be a more suitable starting point for people completely new to wine. Participation includes structured classroom learning, wine tasting and independent study.
