About this course

The course examines how vineyard conditions and winemaking choices affect wine style and quality, using examples from major international grape varieties and regional wines. It also covers sparkling and fortified wine production, label information, storage, service and common faults. Participants take part in tutored tastings of 40 wines and learn to assess and describe them using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting®. Teaching also addresses food and wine matching. Assessment is through a 50-question multiple-choice examination, with structured online learning support available alongside the classroom teaching.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for improver-level learners and does not require prior wine knowledge. Its content builds on the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines, which the provider suggests may be more suitable for those completely new to wine. Participation includes guided tasting and independent study.

• The course includes tutored tastings of 40 wines.
• Lunch is not provided.
• Learners who may need additional help during the examination, for example because of dyslexia, should notify the provider.
