About this course

The course explores how vineyard, winery, legal and commercial factors affect the style, quality and price of wines. It covers still, sparkling and fortified wines from major producing regions, alongside labelling and food-and-wine matching. Classroom teaching includes structured tasting using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting, with practice in describing wines and assessing their quality and readiness for drinking. Assessment comprises a theory paper and a blind tasting of two wines. The qualification also addresses how to provide wine information and advice to customers and staff.

  • A WSET Level 3 study pack is provided, including a textbook, study guide, course specification and laminated tasting card.
  • Access to an online revision portal with videos, practice questions, mock exams, flashcards and revision exercises is included.
  • Professional ISO tasting glasses are provided for use during lessons.
  • At least 56 hours of self-study and revision is recommended in addition to classroom attendance.
  • Learners who pass receive a certificate.
