About this course

This introductory course develops foundational Yoruba through everyday greetings, expressions, numbers and vocabulary for situations such as family, food and shopping. Learners practise introducing themselves and taking part in simple conversations, alongside pronunciation and Yoruba tones. Teaching activities cover speaking, listening, pronunciation, basic reading and writing. The course also introduces aspects of Yoruba culture, traditions and everyday life, giving learners linguistic and cultural context as they build their initial knowledge of the language.
