Chinese Beginner 2 (5+5)

About this course

The course develops spoken Chinese through conversations about introductions, routines, preferences, neighbourhoods, directions, meeting friends and eating out. Lessons also include continued Pinyin practice for pronunciation and tones, alongside 30 further Hanzi and methods for learning them. Grammar work covers basic sentence structure, question forms, directions and locations, modal verbs and measure words. Review and practice sessions are included during the course, allowing learners to revisit the language covered.

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for Beginner (A1) learners who already have a foundation in Pinyin. The content moves beyond initial foundations, with regular conversational practice covering everyday topics and situations.

• A Pinyin foundation is expected
• Knowledge of around 80 or more Chinese vocabulary items is described as ideal
• Learners practise speaking in conversational contexts
