About this course

The course develops spoken Chinese through conversation about everyday life, work, habits, weekends, holidays and travel. Learners continue practising Pinyin pronunciation and tones while being introduced to 25 single-component Hanzi, including how they combine to form further characters and words. Teaching includes grammar work on verb aspects such as 了, 过 and 正在, frequency and degree adverbs, duration, and expressing instructions and prohibitions. Lessons also include review and practice, with topics ranging from hobbies and phone calls to languages and past travel.

Is this course right for you?

This Beginner (A1) course is intended for learners who already have a good foundation in Pinyin. The provider also indicates that knowledge of around 150 or more vocabulary items is ideal, and the course involves regular conversational practice.
