About this course
The workshop introduces participants to basic clay work through slab building, a hand-building technique used to form the decorations. They will then explore several surface-decoration methods, including slip painting and underglazes, to finish their Christmas-themed pieces. The session combines demonstration and guided making, with participants creating a selection of decorations during the class. Five chosen pieces can then be glazed and fired by the studio.

Is this course right for you?
The course is open to participants aged six and over and is designed as an accessible introduction to clay work for a range of ages. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a guardian, who needs a ticket to participate.
- Suitable for family participation
- Participants under 16 cannot be left unattended at the studio
Before you go
- Clay, materials and firings are included.
- Wear clothes that can get dirty. An apron may also be brought.
- Participants can select up to five pieces for the studio to glaze and fire.
- Finished pieces will be available for collection by mid-December; bringing reusable packaging is encouraged.
