About this course

The course introduces Modern Greek for common holiday situations, including greetings, requests, ordering food, hotel check-ins, shopping, directions and travel by public transport. Learners begin with the Greek alphabet, pronunciation and reading signs, menus and place names, alongside useful grammar such as present-tense verbs, articles and simple sentence structures. Teaching uses travel dialogues, role-play, pair and small-group activities, and simulations of situations such as ordering meals or asking for directions. Greek customs, food traditions, gestures and everyday etiquette are included alongside the language work.

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for adults aged 19 or over who are complete beginners or have very little Greek. The Beginner (A1) label indicates an introductory level, and no prior knowledge or formal qualifications are required. Participation involves speaking, listening, role-play and pair or group activities, with no formal assessment.
