About this course

Participants are introduced to the studio, clay materials and the hand-building technique known as pinching. They then make Halloween decorations such as a cauldron tea light holder, pumpkin or bat, using slip and underglazes to add surface decoration. Each participant selects a favourite piece for glazing and firing after the workshop. The course focuses on basic pottery processes while allowing learners to develop their own decoration designs.

What you'll learn

  • Use the pinching technique to hand-build a clay form
  • Apply slip and underglazes to decorate pottery
  • Create a Halloween-themed decorative piece
  • Select a finished piece for glazing and firing
