About this course
The course develops Japanese reading, speaking and sentence-building through continued Hiragana and Katakana practice, the introduction of 30 basic Kanji, and natural pronunciation work. Conversation topics include asking for directions, giving and receiving, preferences, suggestions, invitations and expressing wants. Learners also study verb forms including -masen ka, -masho, -masho ka, dictionary form and the te-form, using them to connect sentences and make requests. Lessons include recap activities, reviews and a final presentation involving a two-minute self-introduction.

This course is intended for learners developing beyond the foundations of Japanese. Participants are expected to have a foundation in Hiragana and Katakana and vocabulary of more than 200 words, with lessons involving spoken conversation and a presentation.
