At A1 Greek, learners are beginning to use familiar words and simple sentences in predictable everyday situations.

About this course
The course extends foundational Greek through topics including telling the time, daily routines, hobbies, weather and transport. Learners practise everyday communication while continuing with the Greek alphabet, present-tense active verbs, singular nominative and accusative nouns, personal pronouns and possessive pronouns. Teaching centres on spoken interaction, with pair and group work, role plays, games, presentations, hand-outs and audio-visual resources. Cultural material is included, and homework is recommended to reinforce classroom learning.

Is this course right for you?
This course is intended for learners who have completed Modern Greek beginners: module 1 or have equivalent recent study. The Beginner (A1) label indicates continued development of foundational language skills, while classroom participation includes spoken interaction, pair and group work, role plays and games.
- Equivalent experience is described as at least 15 recent classroom hours
- Learners are expected to take part in spoken and group-based activities
- Homework is highly recommended for consolidating learning
