Monologue Workout

About this course

Participants work on a range of speeches and texts, selecting monologues, applying memorisation techniques and making performance decisions based on the material. The workshop draws on techniques associated with Stanislavski, Hagen and Meisner, alongside voice and movement work. Sessions include taking direction and exploring different interpretations while creating the world of a play through solo performance. Participants prepare a portfolio of monologues for auditions and self-tapes, with each class ending in the sharing and workshopping of prepared material. The course does not provide direct advice on audition technique for drama school entry.
