About this course
The course explores several areas of pottery, including hand building, wheel throwing, surface decoration and glazing. Each week focuses on a different technique, while allowing time to practise and experiment with clay. Participants can set the pace according to their interests and use the sessions either to develop existing skills or learn unfamiliar methods. The course is suitable for both complete beginners and intermediate-level makers, with teaching structured around technique-focused sessions and individual making time.

Is this course right for you?
The course is intended for complete beginners as well as intermediate makers. Its flexible pace allows participants to spend time learning new techniques or practising skills they already have, with a balance of structured weekly themes and individual making.
- Suitable for learners with no previous pottery experience
- Also accommodates intermediate-level makers
- The first two sessions are particularly important to attend, as they may be difficult to catch up on
- Missed sessions can be covered when the learner returns, but cannot be made up at another time
Before you go
- Materials are provided, including buff stoneware clay, tools, slips, moulds and studio glazes.
- Wear clothes that can get dirty.
- Participants may bring their own apron.
